Yorubas don’t play politics of bitterness – Atiku’s aide Bwala Says

Daniel Bwala, a media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has expressed that President Bola Tinubu and the Yoruba community engage in politics without harboring bitterness.

According to Daily Post, Bwala’s remarks were made in response to Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a tweet, Bwala stated, “Life should be taken with ease. The former APC chairman, who once said that even if I filled his office with demand letters, I wouldn’t receive my professional fees due to my departure from the party, is no longer the chairman. He will now witness how I am paid by those who, despite my departure, maintain a cordial and respectful relationship.”

He further praised the Yoruba people for their ability to engage in politics with a sense of harmony. Bwala mentioned notable figures such as Asiwaju, his family, and those around him, with whom he has interacted as if he never left the party. Bwala recounted an incident where Babatunde Ogala, SAN, shouted in a courtroom, jokingly reminding him that he was “on loan” and must return.

Bwala also shared an encounter with Kayode Fayemi, whom he bumped into while on his way to the gym. As soon as they spotted each other, they exchanged greetings, and Fayemi encouraged Bwala to return without any animosity. However, Bwala mentioned that some of his northern colleagues in the APC stopped communicating with him after he left the party, and one even refused to pay his legal fees.

Despite this, Bwala acknowledged that a few exceptional northern colleagues still maintain contact, emphasizing the need for politics to be viewed and practiced as a peaceful process rather than a war, considering the transient nature of power.
