Tribunal: It Would Be A Disaster For Appeal Court To Rule That Getting 25% Of Votes In FCT Is Important–Sam Kargbo

According to Sam Kargbo, a prominent attorney in Nigeria, it would be disastrous if the court of appeals reversed the ruling of the Presidential election petition tribunal court and decided that a candidate receiving 25% of the vote in the Federal Capital Territory was significant.

Recall that in yesterday PEPT ruling, the judges rejected the argument that a candidate needed to receive at least 25% of the vote in Abuja, stated that Abuja is not special and is comparable to all other states.

According to Sam Kargbo, who appeared in an interview on AIT this afternoon, residents of Abuja do not have any special status relative to residents of the other states in Nigeria.

“It will be a disaster for the judges in the Appeal Court to rule otherwise and say it’s important to get 25% of votes in Abuja because there is no basis for it. The citizens and inhabitants of the FCT are just like every other citizens and inhabitants in other states so why would you expect some form of special status.”
