We are here to show our presence in court, We know that the case will be decided in our favour-Asari Dokubo

According to Daily Post paper, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a leader from the Niger Delta, expressed that his group emerged to demonstrate support for President Bola Tinubu due to the fact that the accusations against him were baseless and lacked any substantial evidence.

On Wednesday, Dokubo had a conversation with the Agency of Nigeria (NAN) outside the Appeal Court Headquarters in Abuja, where the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) was being held.

The former militant, who assembled with his organization called Ijaw Youths for BAT, in partnership with the National APC Supporters Centre and the Northern Youths Network for Asiwaju, at a location on Shehu Shagari Way across from the Head of Service building, expressed optimism that their side would win the case.

“We are here to show our presence in court. We know that the case will be decided in our favour. The case is frivolous; they don’t have any substance in it. But if you don’t come, they will come here and start to misbehave. And that is why we came. You have seen the overwhelming majority (pointing to members of his group); you can’t find them anywhere,” he said.

He said: “During my difficult times, President Tinubu stood by me, and now it’s my turn to support him.”

When questioned about his response if the judgement doesn’t favor his candidate, Dokubo replied: “We are confident in our case and believe it will be in our favor.”

He stated that regardless of the judgement’s outcome, “all Nigerians should unite and contribute towards the betterment of the country.”
