Niger junta told us it was Bazoum that instructed ECOWAS to cut power supply to Niger-Rahman Ahmad

According to a news that was published by the Punch paper online this morning, it was reported that the National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, who was part of a delegation that visited to the Republic of Niger, following the coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, during an interview with Punch correspondent has revealed the Niger Republic coup junta told them.

During the interview, Ahmad was told that from his assessment, does he think ousted President Bazoum’s life is not at risk and while he was responding, he said that they requested to see the ousted President, but the military leaders were of the opinion that there were security concerns on that.

He said, “We raised concerns about his safety, health, and welfare and the General Abdulsalam Abubakar delegation was able to see and visit the ousted leader but we were not able to see him. It is concerning that anybody at all will be held in custody whether protective or punitive.”

He said that restricting anybody’s movement was enough reason for concern and when they raised the issue, the coup leaders debunked the claims that he (Bazoum) was being held under inhuman conditions. They said that he was not imprisoned but under house arrest.

Ahmad said, “We raised concerns about the electricity supply, the Niger junta told us it was Bazoum that instructed ECOWAS to cut power supply to Niger.”

Further talking, he said, “But, I think after our visit, they began to re-think. They have given him access to his doctor, but the fear everyone is having is that they should allow his son to go back to school. I believe this will be part of the ECOWAS terms when they meet eventually.”
