Niger: Be careful, don’t weaponize electricity – Shehu Sani advises Tinubu

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has advised President Bola Tinubu not to use electricity supply as a weapon in handling the leadership crisis in Niger Republic. He urged the President to be cautious and not to align with French neo-Colonialism in the West African sub-region, warning against Nigeria becoming a vigilante of imperialism in the region.

In a tweet on Sunday, Sani expressed his belief that Nigeria should strive for a new independent West Africa. He suggested the abolishment of the CFA, Cedi, and Naira currencies in favor of adopting a common West African Currency.

His message calls for President Tinubu to avoid any actions that may further entangle Nigeria in the affairs of Niger Republic, especially in the context of their recent coup and leadership crisis. He advocates for Nigeria to promote independence and unity among West African nations and avoid being influenced by external forces.

Shehu Sani’s tweet highlights the importance of maintaining sovereignty and independence in the region and encourages the pursuit of a unified West African identity through a common currency. His views reflect the desire for a strong and cohesive regional bloc that stands together in the face of challenges and works towards shared development and prosperity.

As the situation in Niger Republic evolves, it remains to be seen how regional leaders, including President Tinubu and Nigeria, will respond and shape the future of West Africa’s political and economic landscape.
