PDP Govs Nominated Persons For Appointments In Tinubu’s Govt- Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominated persons for appointment in the administration of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike spoke exclusively on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday.

According to the ex-governor of Rivers State, the APC government wrote all the governors of the ruling party and the main opposition party for nominations for political posts.

Tinubu Seeks Consensus

President Bola Tinubu has said a comprehensive consensus against the spread of “contagious autocracy” across Africa is the next step forward with respect to how the power in Gabon will play out.

The Nigerian leader noted that he is committed to working with other heads of state to defend democracy on the continent.

President Tinubu stated this in his first response to the early morning Wednesday coup in Gabon, according to a statement by the Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

Wike Blames Elite For Distorting FCT Master Plan

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has blamed members of the elite for distorting the Master Plan of the nation’s capital.

Wike, who spoke exclusively on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, said “so many things have gone wrong in the FCT” before his assumption in office on August 21, 2023.

The ex-governor of Rivers State said members of the elite are the “major lawbreakers” in the FCT.

Akwa Ibom Govt Shuts Illegal Mining Company Run By Chinese

The Akwa Ibom State Government has closed down a Chinese mining firm, Ruitai Mining Company, for failing to produce an operation licence.

The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Uno Eno, said this when he briefed reporters in Uyo.

Mr Eno said the firm could not provide authorisation documents for titanium ore mining in Ibeno community of the state.
