Atiku had challenged the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in court, but the presidential election tribunal threw out his petition and upheld Tinubu’s election.

The Minister of Ation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu “for this judicial vindication”, and hit out at the opposition, urging them to “have sense” and embrace Tinubu’s government.

Keyamo’s reaction is coming on the heels of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal ruling that upheld Tinubu’s victory at the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

The PEPT ruled that the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of Labour Party, and their respective parties had no merit.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Aguocha the winner of the February 25, 2023 reps election after polling a total number of 48,199 votes to defeat Orji, who polled 35,196 votes.

But not satisfied with the outcome of the election, Orji, who is the former speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and son of former governor Theodore Orji, approached the tribunal to seek redress.
