While expecting the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to declare Obi as the President, Abure acknowledged the government’s rumored plan for a rerun election. In light of this, he emphasized the importance of being prepared for such an eventuality and sought support from the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy. The Labour Party was determined to fight for their candidate’s presidency and was ready to pursue legal avenues to ensure justice was served.

Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, expressed the party’s firm belief that their presidential candidate in the last general election, Peter Obi, will be declared the President by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja. Speaking during an online meeting with the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy, Abure emphasized that there were rumors of the government planning a rerun election, and he sought support from the coalition in this regard.

Reacting during an online meeting held with Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy, LP Chairman, Julius Abure said “Rumours have it that those in government are already planning for rerun and this is one of the support we will be canvasing from you.”

He added; “We believe strongly that we won that election given the statistics we have, given the result we have, we are not expecting anything less than the declaration of Peter Obi as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. But supposing that didn’t happen as the government is believed to be planning for a rerun it will not also be out of place for we to be preparing for a rerun election.”

Abure confidently stated that the Labour Party firmly believed they had won the previous election based on their gathered statistics and results. Consequently, their expectation was nothing less than the official declaration of Peter Obi as the President of Nigeria. However, Abure acknowledged the possibility that the government might not honor this expectation and proceed with a rerun election. In light of this, he asserted that the Labour Party should also be prepared for such an eventuality.

The Labour Party National Chairman reiterated the party’s conviction that their candidate, Peter Obi, deserved to be recognized as the rightful President based on the available data and election outcomes. The party firmly believed in their victory and was prepared to fight for it through legal means. Despite rumors of a rerun election being orchestrated by the government, the Labour Party intended to pursue their case and seek justice for their candidate.

Recognizing the potential for a rerun election, Abure indicated that the Labour Party should not be caught unprepared. They considered it necessary to make arrangements and strategize for a possible rerun election, ensuring they had the necessary resources, support, and plans in place to secure victory. By emphasizing the importance of preparing for various scenarios, Abure demonstrated the party’s commitment to pursuing their candidate’s presidency, regardless of the government’s actions.
