Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, praised Gov. Fubara for beginning his term with one of the largest projects ever in the state during the flag-off of the construction of the 50.15 km Portharcourt Dual Carriage Ring Road. He noted that Nigerians will see in his 100 days in office and that they will marvel in his one year in office.
However, Wike cautioned Fubara to exercise caution in his role as governor, warning that even people in his own region would be envious of and conspiring against him. Wike advised him to not worry about it and instead concentrate on what would be best for his people.
According to him, “What you (Fubara) will show in 100 days, Nigerians will be shocked, and that’s why we said continuity and consolidation are the answers.” In your 100 days in office, Nigerians will see; in your one year in office, Nigerians will marvel. Who would not be happy when he sees a good thing? But let me also advise you: this good thing you’re doing today attracts envy and gangs up against you.
You’ll notice that many individuals are uniting to oppose you. Particularly in your area, among your pairings. They won’t be appreciating but rather pondering, “What is he trying to show?” Don’t worry about those things, just like his predecessor did. Your concern should be with the good you would bring to our people.
