Tribunal:Senior Lawyers Knew From Day One That These Petitions Would End The Way They Did-Ebun Adegboruwa

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Public Affairs Commentator, Ebun Adegboruwa has spoken on the decision of the presidential election petition tribunal justices on the transmission of results among other issues.

Recall that according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated other strong contenders including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP to clinch the apex political seat in the country.

The presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar challenged the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja and their petitions have been struck out by the court on Wednesday.

The Punch paper reported that Ebun Adegboruwa, in an exclusive interview said; “We senior lawyers knew from day one that these petitions would end the way they did. The judgment was not surprising to us at all.”

He stated further; “It is true that maybe the lawyers of the petitioners could have done better, especially with the kind of witnesses they produced. When you have a case where 10 witnesses were being disqualified, then maybe they could have done better in those areas.”

The recent statement by Ebun Adegboruwa which was shared by The Punch paper on its verified Facebook page has generated a lot of reactions from many Nigerians on the social media platform.
