James C. Ezike, a lawyer, has stated that the presidential election that led to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory was marred by fraud. He contends that the Supreme Court should intervene and order a new election due to the flawed foundation of the previous one.
According to James Ezike had said: “We are saying that the election was rigged. What i expect in this judgement of the Supreme Court that is coming, is to do what other countries like Kenya have done in their Supreme Court judgements: redo the election because the foundation is wrong.”
In an interview on The Morning Show, a television program on Arise TV, Barr. Ezike strongly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he perceived as deceitful actions. He highlighted INEC’s initial announcement of plans to electronically transmit election results, only to change to manual collation on the day of the election. According to him, political parties had anticipated electronic transmission, and INEC’s alteration of its plans amounted to fraud.
Ezike also clarified that he doesn’t represent any political party as legal counsel, but he believes it is essential for the Supreme Court to mandate a rerun of the election in light of the irregularities he outlined.
