Tribunal: Ministerial List: A New President Will Come With His Own Team" -Dr. Poju Bitrus

Dr. Pogu Bitrus, President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), has expressed in an interview with THE SUN that the ministerial list recently submitted by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Senate for screening and approval could potentially become void if an unfavorable verdict from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) were to surface, potentially leading to Tinubu’s administration being displaced.

Dr. Bitrus disclosed that legal advisors to the APC and Tinubu are raising apprehensions, bearing in mind the constitutional requirement to secure 25 percent of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in consideration of a potential re-run.

Dr. Bitrus commented, “Our standpoint is that the ministerial nominees list and other such actions could be transient if the court’s judgment is delivered promptly. Even APC and Tinubu’s legal advisors are discussing the possibility of a rerun due to their awareness of their weak case. However, securing a rerun seems unlikely. In its absence, the entire ministerial setup will collapse, paving the way for the incoming president’s team.”

He expressed optimism in the PEPT’s capacity to deliver a fair ruling while expressing concern over what he regarded as a disregard for the constitution during the previous election.
