You’re Pained Buhari Didn’t Patronize You, Femi Tells Kukah

Femi Adesina, a former aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, has knocked Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese over recent critical comments of the immediate past government.

Speaking on Monday at the 60th anniversary of the call to the bar of legal luminary Afe Babalola, SAN, in Ado Ekiti, Kukah had said corruption became its ugliest under Buhari.

Citing Daura, Buhari’s hometown in Katsina State as an example, Kukah said while in power, many leaders develop their communities at the expense of others.

Reacting, Adesina in a tweet on Tuesday morning, said Kukah was pained because Buhari didn’t patronize him like he benefited from past leaders.

Tinubu Writes Senate, Asks For Service Chiefs’ Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of service chiefs.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who read the letter at the resumption of the plenary session on Tuesday, said the service chiefs would be screened by the entire Senate in its chamber at a yet-to-be-announced date.

Last week, the President similarly asked the House of Representatives to confirm the newly appointed service chiefs. The Speaker, Abass Tajudeen, read the President’s letter at opened Thursday plenary session.

Akpabio revealed that Senator Solomon Adeola would chair the Appropriations Committee, while Senator Ahmed Wadada is to chair the Public Accounts Committee.

The Senate President also read a letter from President Bola Tinubu addressed to the Senate seeking the confirmation of recently appointed service chiefs.

JAIZ Bank Appoints Bintube Board Chairman

Nigeria’s pioneer non-interest bank, Jaiz Bank Plc, has announced the appointment of Mohammed Mustapha Bintube as its new chairman of the Board of Directors.

According to a statement from the bank, Bintube’s appointment followed the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after his recommendation to the apex bank.

He replaces Umaru Abdul Mutallab, who was the bank’s chairman for about a decade. Prior to his appointment to the new role, Bintube was a shareholder and pioneer managing director and chief executive officer of Jaiz Bank Plc from 2011 to 2013.

He is currently the chairman, Buraq Capital Limited from 2014 till date. He is also the chairman, board of directors of Emerging Africa Trustees Limited, a position he has held from 2022 till date.

Police Arrest Soccer Coach Allegedly Raping Unconscious Boys

Franklin Police Department police said they have arrested a popular Tennessee soccer coach after finding videos on his cell phone depicting unconscious boys being raped.

Camilo Hurtado Campos is being held in Franklin, Tennessee, on charges of rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor with additional charges expected to be filed, according to a Sunday news release from the Franklin Police Department.

Police say they were alerted after Campos left his phone at a restaurant and employees went through the device, looking for information about the owner so they could return it.

Authorities investigated and found hundreds of disturbing images and videos on the 63-year-old’s phone, according to the release. Police say Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately 9 and 17 years old.
