Tinubu Will Swear In New Ministers Monday – Akume

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Monday, August 21, swear in newly appointed ministers at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Villa, Abuja by 10:00am.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr George Akume, said this Wednesday night in a statement.

Daily reports that President Tinubu on Wednesday formally assigned portfolios to the ministers, recently cleared by the Senate, including former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who was made Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Festus Keyamo, Ation Minister.

Honourable Ministers to be sworn-in are expected to come with two guests each. All Honourable Ministers and invited guests are to be seated by 9:00am,” Akume said in the statement signed by Mr Willie Bassey, Director, Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

’Two leading opposition figures in the country, former Vice president Atiku Abubakar and a former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently held a meeting in Abuja.

The meeting took place at the residence of the former Governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) late Tuesday.

Kwankwaso confirmed the meeting on his Facebook page, saying that “I was pleased to receive my brother, the former Vice President, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at my residence this evening. I thank Waziri for this fraternal visit. – RMK.”

Though details of the meeting are yet to be known as those close to the two leaders have kept sealed lips, Daily Trust gathered that the meeting might not be unconnected with the political situation in the country and recent developments.

Before taking oath of office, President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with Kwankwaso, his NNPP rival in the election.

According to sources, the president considering a Government of National Unity and had planned to include Kwankwaso and some of his allies in his administration.

However, neither Kwankwaso nor any of his known associates made the ministerial list, while the immediate past governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, a known political foe of Kwankwaso, had some impute in the cabinet.

Ogun Will Become Nigeria’s Rice Capital – Abiodun

Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor, Ogun State, on Wednesday pledged his commitment to make the state the rice capital of Nigeria.

This is as a 20,000 hectares rice farm is to be sited in the Yewa axis of the state.

Governor Abiodun, stated this during the commissioning of the 7-kilometre Ibooro-Imasai- Ayetoro road in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.

The governor described Yewaland as the food basket of the state, noting that 20,000 hectares of land was needed for the rice project.

He said: “Yewaland is no doubt the food basket of this state and even the country. We are looking for 20,000 hectares of land to cultivate rice here. We will not put our money but there are investors who are ready to invest. All they need is land and I want to call on our Kabiyesis to come together and within two or three weeks, give land for this project.

“I have called the Head of Service, I have spoken to the Olu of Ilaro that he should challenge all our traditional rulers in this area. We are looking for about 20,000 hectares of land.

“We want to turn this part of Yewa into the Rice capital of Nigeria. We already have the investors that have the resources to turn this place into the rice development and rice processing center in Nigeria and I am deeply committed to that as that will be one of the legacies of this administration.

Monarch Honours Kebbi PCRC Boss

Following a series of engagements in Kebbi state by the acting state chairman police public relations committee (PCRC), Comrade Shehu Umar, the District Head of Ambursa Alhaji Isah Haruna Rasheed honoured him at Ambursa Palace under Birnin Kebbi Local Government.

According to the monarch, the PCRC Chief has made a mark in community policing and has projected the image of the police aid committee hence the reason to honour him as a way of boosting his morale to encourage him to do more for the community.

We are aware since you came on board you have held a series of engagements and your efforts have activated commands and units of the police community committee as traditional leaders aside from our support we honour active persons to encourage them,” he said.
