El-Rufai withdraws interest in ministerial appointment, jets out of country

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has opted out of President Bola Tinubu’s

cabinet as a minister. In an exclusive report by an online newspaper, PREMIUM TIMES, El-Rufai was said to have told President Tinubu at a meeting on Tuesday that he was no longer interested in becoming a minister but would continue to contribute his quota to the development of Nigeria as a private citizen.

Quoting presidency sources, Premium Times also reported that the former governor “told the president that he needed time to focus on his doctorate programme at a university in The Netherlands”.

Ganduje seeks NEC approval to replace Lukman, Kyari, others

The Abdullahi Ganduje-led All Progressives Congress has begun consultation to fill vacant offices in the National Working Committee by seeking the nod of the party’s National Executive Committee to ratify the new officers.

The move became necessary after the ruling party received the list of nominations from state party chapters in line with the mandate given to the NWC at the last NEC meeting held in Transcorp Hilton in Abuja last week.

Aside from the slots of National Deputy Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari and National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu, who had been cleared as ministerial nominees, the positions of former National Vice Chairman (North-West), Mallam Salihu Lukman, and National Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzuq, who recently quit the NWC had also become vacant.

Fayemi advises Ekiti commissioners to serve with excellence

The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has urged the newly-inaugurated commissioners and special advisers in the state to focus on excellent service delivery in order to add value to the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Fayemi spoke during his remarks at the ongoing retreat for members of Ekiti State Executive Council and accounting officers in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, a statement by his media office stated.

The former governor, who was a special guest at the retreat, commended Oyebanji for his giant strides in the areas of development and inclusivity.

He tasked the commissioners to see themselves as privileged to be among the team that would assist the governor achieve more. He urged them to steer clear of actions capable of truncating the smooth running of the state.

Gombe approves appointment of 11 district, 21 village heads

The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has approved the appointment of no fewer than 11 district and 21 village heads for five emirates and traditional councils.

The Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, made this known in a statement made available on Friday, by the Director-General Press Affair of the government house, Ismaila Misilli.

According to Njodi, the appointment is in exercise of the powers vested in the governor under the creation of Emirates, Districts, Villages and Wards as well as appointment and disposition of Emirs and Chiefs Law,” the statement partly read.

Our correspondent reports that Gona Emirate has 12 Village Heads, Pindiga Emirate has nine, while out of the 11 District Head Gona Emirate has six, two for Pindiga Emirate, Dukku has one, Funakaye one and Kaltungo one.
