The Southern Youth Development Forum expressed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to appoint George Akume, the former Governor of Benue State, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). According to the forum, Akume’s appointment signifies fairness and equality in the country.

Pastor Bassey James, the convener of the forum, highlighted Akume’s significant role in the emergence of his successors in Benue State since 2007. He emphasized the need for unity, progress, and love in governance, stating that raising unnecessary issues would not benefit anyone. As a pastor himself, James called for a visionary leader who can drive agricultural revolution and bring positive change to Benue State.
The forum expressed their desire to move Nigeria and all states forward, emphasizing the importance of a leader who can rebuild and revitalize the agricultural sector, which is a vital aspect of Benue State’s identity.
