President Tinubu yet to move into Aso Rock Villa six weeks after inauguration

Six weeks after taking over from former President Muhammadu Buhari, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is apparently still waiting to settle into his official house at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, PUNCH reports.

The President is using his personal conference room, office, and Aso Chambers for critical meetings even though Tinubu hasn’ t moved into his home yet.

Sunday PUNCH reports that Tinubu’ s relocation has been put off because of ongoing renovations, which started in late April when former President Buhari left the 32- year- old building for a temporary residence known as the Glass House.

Although it took Buhari almost three weeks to settle into his new home, Presidency sources said the incoming Commander- in- Chief, who is moving in eight years after the previous occupant, could not be expected to take the same amount of time.

” These things are relative” , the source said. It is not at all fixed. Buhari lasted for eight years, whereas Goodluck Jonathan stayed for five. Therefore, the extent of repairs required this time must have increased.

They might be attempting significant changes. For instance, the current Council Chamber did not have all of the technology it does now.

” It had to be entirely shut down at one point during Baba’ s (Buhari’ s) administration so that they could modernize it. We were holding Federal Executive Council meetings in the First Lady’ s conference room at the time. And it took a while for the modifications to take effect” .

Another insider added, ” It also depends on personal preferences and what you want from a location. But as soon as Tinubu entered the office, he took up residence there.
