Some people are already complaining about the sharing formula of the palliatives- Chijioke Okoro

Yesterday, a former gubernatorial aspirant of Abia State under the Action Alliance party, Honorable Chijioke Okoro, was interviewed on African Independent Television (AIT) to discuss the current administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the interview, Honorable Chijioke Okoro commented on the measures taken to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. He praised President Tinubu, describing him as a shrewd and unpredictable individual. Okoro emphasized that Tinubu’s plans concerning the palliative were not easily discernible, leaving room for the possibility of increasing the amount in the future.

Comparing the current approach to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Okoro pointed out that the N5,000 palliative during Buhari’s tenure was mismanaged. However, he expressed confidence that such mismanagement would not occur under a Tinubu administration. The former aspirant cited Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that the funds would reach the intended beneficiaries as promised.

Honorable Chijioke Okoro also acknowledged that President Tinubu had only been in office for a few weeks. He portrayed the introduction of the palliative as a gesture of Tinubu’s determination to address the situation at hand, even though it might not result in a complete resolution. Nonetheless, he recognized that some concerns had been raised regarding the distribution of the palliative. He expressed optimism that Tinubu would heed the grievances and take steps to address the issues.

“I want you all to know that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is just some weeks into his administration. The introduction of the palliative is just to show that he really wants to save the situation even though it will not be a hundred percent saving. Some people are already complaining about the sharing formula of the palliative. Well, I believe Tinubu is listening to them and will get them addressed.”

The interview shed light on President Tinubu’s handling of the fuel subsidy removal situation and his commitment to providing palliative support. Honorable Chijioke Okoro expressed confidence in Tinubu’s approach and ability to ensure transparent and effective distribution of the funds. While acknowledging that challenges exist, he believed that Tinubu would take feedback into account and work towards better solutions.
