Senate Should Try & Read The Laws They Made, For Peace, Order & Good Governance In Nigeria- Kenneth Okonkwo

Veteran Nollywood actor and Labour Party Chieftain, Mr. Kenneth Okonkwo, has raised concerns about the proposed ministerial list presented to the Senate. He asserts that this list violates the federal character commission act by allowing certain states to have an unequal distribution of ministers. According to him, no state should possess three ministers while others have not yet received two, and no geopolitical zone should be favored with two additional ministers compared to other zones. Mr. Okonkwo shared his views a tweet, urging Senators to familiarize themselves with the laws they have enacted to promote peace, order, and effective governance in Nigeria.

Adding to his critique, the Labour Party’s prominent member criticized the APC-led government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, labeling it as one of the most tribalistic and nepotistic regimes globally. He lamented the departure from democratic ideals and the rule of law under the current APC administration. The tweet, which can be found below, articulates these concerns further.

It’s worth noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently submitted his list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for approval. However, the composition of the list has sparked controversy, with certain states having multiple nominees while others are represented by just one. This has led many Nigerians to call upon the President to address this disparity and uphold the principle of federal character to ensure the nation’s peace and unity.
