inubu meets with Okonjo-Iweala at Aso Villa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently meeting with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Dailytrust paper reported that, Dr Okonjo-Iweala, who walked into the Villa a few minutes after 3pm, was accompanied by Dr Ali Pate, one of the president’s ministers-designate.

Okono-Iweala told the media about the meeting and stated she and Pate had discussed ways to help the nation “during this period” with the President.

Although she wasn’t on official business, she claimed that as a Nigerian, she ought to provide any assistance she could.

Okonjo-Iweala stated that she and Pate were eager to assist the Nigerian people.

According to Channels Television, the purpose of her visit was not yet known as of press time but it might not be unconnected to the economic and trade agenda of the new administration in Nigeria.

When President Emmanuel Macron convened the Global Pact Summit in Paris in June 2023, Tinubu and Okonjo-Iweala got together there.

The first woman to hold the job, Okonjo-Iweala served as Nigeria’s Finance Minister twice, from 2011 to 2015 and from 2003 to 2006.

Additionally, she worked with the World Bank for 25 years, eventually attaining to the post of Managing Director No. 2.
