Ministerial nominee: APC National Chairman, Ganduje reveals reason Shetty Maryam was replaced

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje has revealed that the nomination of ministerial nominee, Dr. Shetty Maryam was withdrawn as a result of reactions from stakeholders which questioned her competence and popularity.

According to VANGUARD NEWS, he made this known during a programme while explaining that the President had to carry out several consultations before he could choose a ministerial nominees from any of the States across the federation to hold an office. He further explained that comments generated on social media further led to her withdrawal from the ministerial list.

In brief, Ganduje said: ‘ In the process of appointing ministers, the president has people who will advise him from different states and the nation at large. He is also free to consult people from the State because they are the one who know the people who are fit to occupy such office. So all of a sudden, we just heard the name. Since we know the President has the prerogative right to do so and as loyalists of the president who understand democracy, we did not challenge the decision. But again, we do not know her, so we cannot vouch for her competency for the job. Reactions also trailed her nomination on social media as people were making jest of her. These concerns were not raised by Ganduje, but the masses. The president was also shown the social media reactions and he sought my opinion. Clearly, I told him that I do not know who she is. He asked if there was a need to replace her and I answered in the affirmative ‘.
