"The Nigerian Senate Should Not Approve Any Military Action Against Niger Republic" -Shehu Sani

Following the report that the president of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seeking the senate approval to deploy troops to Niger republic to reverse what has happened in the west African country, former Nigerian lawmaker and human rights activist, Shehu Sani has cautioned the Nigerian senate not to approve such move by the president.

According to Shehu Sani, deploying troops to Niger could further escalate the situation on ground. Shehu Sani also believes that such move is capable of plunging the country into war. Shehu Sani went further to advise the president that he shouldn’t allow himself to be used by foreign powers.

You will recall that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently sought the approval of the Nigerian senate to deploy military troops to Niger republic. Reacting to this development, Shehu Sani took to his official Twitter handle and wrote;

“The Nigerian Senate should NOT approve any military action against Niger Republic.This country should not be plunged into war and eventually stuck in war in the Sahel.President Tinubu shouldn’t allow himself to be misled by foreign powers”.

Shehu Sani also advised the senators to weigh the options and act in the best interest of the country.
