I was still loyal to the Governor, despite him accusing me of plotting a coup – Edo's Deputy Shaibu

According to THE NATION NEWSPAPER, due to the worsening of their relationship, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has relocated his deputy, Philip Shaibu, from the Government House Complex in Benin. Shaibu will now work from a different building in Benin, which was previously used by the State Public Procurement Office. This decision was made after Obaseki’s security agents physically prevented Shaibu from greeting the governor at a church service last Sunday.

Yesterday, it was being renovated, and a new signpost had just been put up by the gate. The signpost is marked with the following information: “Office of the Deputy Governor, No. 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, Benin City.” On December 16, 2014, the building was dedicated by the governor in office at the time, Adams Oshiomhole.

The building was undergoing renovations yesterday, and a fresh signpost had recently been installed near the entrance. The signpost displays the address and title as “Office of the Deputy Governor, No. 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, Benin City.” On December 16, 2014, the governor at that time, Adams Oshiomhole, officially inaugurated the building.

The Director-General (DG) is currently in court due to allegations that his superior, along with the state House of Assembly, is attempting to oust him from his position. Both Obaseki and the Assembly have refuted these claims. Shaibu affirmed his loyalty to the governor, despite being accused of conspiring to overthrow him.
