Dino Melaye, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, has accused the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, of destroying the state to the point that Permanent Secretaries now go to work through the use of commercial motorcycles known as okada.
According to Daily trust, Speaking when the PDP Campaign Council for the election met at the party headquarters in Abuja, Melaye expressed confidence that he will be the next governor of the state.
If given the chance to serve the people, he vowed to lead with the fear of God.
The only state in Nigeria today where there is government without governance, according to him, is Kogi. Our roads are death traps, there are no beds or drugs at the new specialist hospital in Okene, there is widespread instability, and murdering is the norm of the day as I speak with you. But I want to let you know that we will create a new Kogi state and take a fresh approach. We’re going to rule with the fear of God.
People are disenchanted, 60% of APC members will work for us, they won’t talk but they’ll work for us, and we’ll travel from house to house to realise our dream. That’s why the PDP is on the ground in Kogi state.
Daily trust report that, The November 11 governorship election, according to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, is not about Dino Melaye but rather about good government and the PDP.
“If you sit down and look at where Kogi is today, we all have an assignment and it is not Dino’s assignment,” said Saraki, who also serves as the campaign’s chairman of the strategy committee.
What has occurred in that state for the past eight years is that Yahaya Bello is the only candidate on the APC ticket. Therefore, the choice is clear: cast your vote for the APC if you think Yahaya Bello should serve another four years in office in Kogi after eight; cast your vote for the PDP if you think the people of Kogi deserve better. Because a Governor Dino would never fail to pay his employees.
