We will not exceed 3yrs in power but any intervention will not be a walk in the park- Niger Junta

The leader of the Niger Junta, Abdourahamane Tchiani, recently addressed the nation through a televised broadcast. He said that their rule would not extend beyond three years, and after that period, a transition of power would take place.

Ever since Abdourahamane Tchiani and his forces overthrew President Muhammed Bazoum, there has been global attention on the situation. The coup in Niger Republic has sparked discussions and reactions worldwide. Notably, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has been actively trying to reinstate Bazoum as the president since the coup occurred.

In the televised address, Tchiani emphasized that the military Junta has no intention of holding onto power for an extended period. He assured the public that after three years, a peaceful transition of power will occur. However, he also cautioned that if there were to be a military intervention, it wouldn’t be an easy process.

Tchiani’s statement was captured by the PUNCH NEWSPAPER, quoting him as saying, “We won’t exceed our stay in power before handing over, but in the event of a military intervention, it will never be a walk in the park.”
