The false statement, which circulated widely on social media, falsely stated that she had been bombarded with toxic calls and messages after she met with Tinubu.

The fabricated message expressed shock at the content and tone of the communications, questioning the state of Nigeria and its citizens. It also mentioned Okonjo-Iweala’s role in bringing investors to the country using Tinubu’s policies as bait.

It further praised Tinubu’s reforms and expressed optimism for Nigeria’s future under his leadership. It concluded by stating that Okonjo-Iweala’s visit to Tinubu was solely motivated by her desire for the nation’s progress.

In response, Okonjo-Iweala clarified that her visit was not related to her role as director-general of the WTO. She emphasized that her conversation with President Tinubu focused on measures to improve job creation, women’s empowerment, and digital trade within Nigeria’s economy.
