Everyone Is Struggling, I Am Here On A Quiet Visit – Okonjo-Iweala Reacts As She Visits Bola Tinubu

The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, responded after her visit to Nigeria’s foremost leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the State House in Abuja on August 8th, 2023.

As reported by The Vanguard paper, the visit saw Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala accompanied by Mohammed Ali Pate, the former Minister of State for Health during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, acknowledged their meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting their focus on initiatives to bolster the nation.

In her words, “We all know that things are very difficult for Nigerians outside, everyone is struggling. I’m here on a quiet visit. So this was not really an official WTO mission but we’re able to engage with the President, talk about what are the kinds of programmes that could be put in place to make sure the suffering of Nigerians are being alleted”

She further elaborated, “Our discussions centered on exploring grassroots and community-driven initiatives that could generate employment opportunities for the youth. We also discussed ways to provide support to women and children who bear the brunt of the nation’s difficulties.”

The recent statement by Okonjo-Iweala, shared on The Vanguard paper’s verified Facebook page, has elicited considerable reactions from numerous Nigerians on various social media platforms.
