During His 8-Year Tenure As Gov, Wike Only Managed To Construct 12 Overhead Bridges' Chukwuemeka Eze

As reported by New Telegraph paper, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized the appointment of Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Eze asserted that Wike’s potential selection lacks merit and could be driven by a desire for retribution against political rivals, possibly resulting in property rights being revoked.

Eze remarked, “How can we justify Wike’s selection for FCT Minister, given that during his eight-year gubernatorial term, he merely oversaw the construction of 12 overpriced overhead bridges? These projects served as avenues for embezzlement, enabling him to misuse state funds. Moreover, Wike funded these flyovers through federal government refunds received from projects led by Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, capitalizing on the flyover construction.”

Chukwuemeka Eze added saying, “Mile 1 market, Mother and Child Hospital, and Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Centers, three additional projects Wike completed as Governor, are now abandoned, overrun by grass and perilous reptiles. He manipulated select media outlets to create a false impression of significant achievements while disregarding media controlled by the Rivers State government. Nonetheless, his performance fails to rank him among the top 20 Governors of his era.”

He concluded saying, “Despite the allocation of substantial annual budgets to critical sectors like health, education, and infrastructure, the Wike administration left them in disarray. The state budgets remained obscured in secrecy, despite public outcry.”
