Tinubu: For Someone Who Want To Hit Ground Running He Ought To Have Had His Cabinet List Ready-Kachikwu Dumebi

Kachikwu expressed his disappointment in President Tinubu’s failure to have a prepared cabinet list from the beginning, given the urgency of the country’s challenges. Additionally, he argued that proper planning and consideration of palliative measures should have taken place before the removal of fuel subsidies to mitigate the suffering experienced by the Nigerian population.

Dumebi Kachikwu, a former presidential candidate of the ADC, expressed his opinion regarding President Tinubu’s preparedness to take office. In an interview with Arise , during their morning show program, Kachikwu was asked about the type of cabinet list he expected from Tinubu. He mentioned that in his response to Tinubu’s democracy speech, he expressed disappointment that Tinubu did not have his cabinet list ready from the beginning. Kachikwu believed that for someone who wanted to hit the ground running, it was essential to have a cabinet list prepared and shared his disappointment in Tinubu’s delay. He also mentioned the need for discussions on palliative measures.

Kachikwu stated, “For someone like Tinubu who wants to hit the ground running, it would have been expected that he had his cabinet list ready from day one. Unfortunately, he has not done so, and many people, including myself, were disappointed. Although the constitution allows for approximately 60 days, we are still waiting. However, considering the current state of the country, which is in dire need of immediate attention, Tinubu should have acted promptly.”

Regarding the issue of palliative measures, Kachikwu emphasized that they should have been planned and factored in before the removal of fuel subsidies. He highlighted the suffering experienced by Nigerians over the past month, nearing two months, due to the removal of fuel subsidies. Kachikwu’s statement suggested that he believed the provision of palliative measures should have been a priority before implementing such changes.
