Declare Obi winner, don’t waste Nigeria’s resources, Group tells court

Mr. Marcel Ngogbehei, the Director General of Good Governance Institute (GGI) and a leader of the Obidient Movement, has called on the Presidential Election Tribunal to declare Peter Obi as the winner of the 2023 Presidential Election.

Ngogbehei based his request on the evidence presented at the tribunal against the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, by various witnesses. He believes that declaring Obi the winner would save the country from further spending and agony.

Ngogbehei, who is also a Sloan Fellow of Strategy and Leadership Management at the London Business School (LBS), made this statement in London. He emphasized that the court has the power to recompute the election results, as was done in Imo State, and declare the rightful winner.

Ngogbehei expressed his expectation that the court would order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Tinubu and issue a fresh one to Peter Obi after a careful recompilation of all the results from the 2023 elections.

According to Ngogbehei, the events of February 25th, 2023, in Nigeria cannot be erased from history, especially with the advancements in digital technology that allow for the storage of digital records. He emphasized that the world is closely following the court proceedings in Nigeria, gathering digital evidence that will last for decades. Ngogbehei urged the court to consider the impact of its decision on Nigeria’s history and avoid putting itself in a difficult situation.
