Certain Governors Benefit from South-East Insecurity – Imo Representative, Ikenga Ugochinyere

Ikenga Ugochinyere, a representative of the Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State, expressed that certain governors in the South East have not succeeded in resolving the crisis within the region due to their personal gains derived from it.

During a conversation with ARISE TV, Ugochinyere emphasized this point while discussing the persistent security issues in the area.

He emphasized, “The president possesses a multitude of constitutional powers that can be employed expeditiously to effectively resolve this matter. However, the leaders of the South-East must convene and establish a shared understanding in addressing this pressing security concern.”

He stressed the paramount importance of peace in the Southeast, as the entire region is ravaged by numerous challenges. The destructive force of erosion threatens our lands, while the crumbling infrastructure exacerbates the situation.

Moreover, the relentless arson attacks on our homes and the loss of innocent lives deprive us of peaceful sleep. This state of affairs is highly undesirable.

Any leader who genuinely seeks the advancement and cohesion of Nigeria will undoubtedly welcome the participation of key players to discover a durable resolution.

I firmly hold the conviction that the current administration, as per their stated commitment to running an all-encompassing government and fostering national unity, will facilitate inclusivity throughout the nation’s regions.

In my capacity on this live television broadcast, I can confidently state that certain governors in the Southeast region are finding pleasure in this state of turmoil. They are capitalizing on the prevailing climate of insecurity to reap certain benefits.

Furthermore, I boldly assert, without any reservation, that a number of these governors have incorporated vigilante groups from neighboring states into their own state’s security framework. Regrettably, the very security vigilantes they recruited have now transformed into unknown gunmen.
