Presidential Election Tribunal Judgement: We're Here For Troublemakers – Asari Dokubo

Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a Niger Delta chieftain, stated that his group came out to show solidarity with President Bola Tinubu because the petitions against him were frivolous and lacked substance. Dokubo spoke to the Agency of Nigeria (NAN) outside the Appeal Court Headquarters in Abuja, the venue of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC), on Wednesday.

The ex-militant, who gathered along the Shehu Shagari Way directly opposite the Head of Service building with his group, the Ijaw Youths for BAT, in collaboration with the National APC Supporters Centre and the Northern Youths Network for Asiwaju, expressed hope that the case would be decided in their favour.

“We’re here to make our presence known in court.” We are confident that the matter will be settled in our favour. The case is frivolous; there is no substance to it. But if you don’t arrive, they’ll come and start misbehaving. That is why we arrived. “You’ve seen the overwhelming majority (pointing to members of his group); they’re nowhere to be found,” he remarked.

“President Tinubu has been with me in my most trying period,” he added, “and now is the time for me to repay him.” When asked what he would do if the verdict did not support his candidate, Dokubo simply stated, “We know our case, and we know that it will go in our favour.”
