Barely 48 Hours After The Inauguration of his Cabinet, President Tinubu Issues Warning to Wike, Others
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a strong and cryptic message to his newly inagurated cabinet members, including Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, barely 48 hours after the inauguration.
President Tinubu, in a tweet on Tuesday, August 22, told the new members of his cabinet that Nigerians are eager to see the promises made during the campaign being fulfilled as soon as possible and that there is no room for them to fail.
The president stated that he and the ministers are in the same boat or vehicle concerning the new assignment but reminded them that he is “the driver”.
While sharing a video clip from the inauguration, the president reminded the ministers that they must hold themselves accountable before Nigerians do and prayed for their success.
The tweet reads: “In this new assignment, we are in this boat together; even if it is a vehicle, I am the driver. The entire nation sits watchful as you and I navigate this vehicle.
“We must hold each other responsible. We have to do the job to meet the expectations of all Nigerians. God be with you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, berated President Tinubu’s 45-member cabinet, insisting that they lack the capacity ensure accountability, stabilize the Naira, tackle insecurity amongst the several myriad problems facing the nation.
Atiku, in his assessment of the ministerial lineup, described it as “Dismal”, “Elephantine”, and “Imprudent”, putting it mildly.”
Atiku, speaking through Segun Showunmi, his former Spokesman and PDP Chieftain in Ogun State, said the “Atiku/Okowa’s PDP’s Cabinet Would Have Been Lean And More Equitable.”
The PDP said Nigerians must now “prepare for the consequences of what is before us in this vast cabinet that has just been inaugurated.
“Nigerians must learn that election choices have consequences, and now I welcome us all to dimming hope with nothing assured” he said.
