Women empowerment and equality programmes in Nigeria would be attracting a support of $200m from the United States’ Government.
The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, stated this in Abuja, at the Gender and Inclusion Summit 2022, put together by the Policy Innovation Centre, under the auspices of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

According to her, much of the funding would focus on addressing women-related issues and empowering Nigerian women.
She also averred that nations with gender equality had higher economic prosperity, for which, “the United States is committed to promoting women empowerment in Nigeria.”
