The Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of NNPP, had been earlier suspended by the party’s leadership at the National Convention on Aug. 29 in Lagos.

Recall that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NNPP set up a Disciplinary Committee and directed it to invite Kwankwaso to defend allegations of gross anti party activities and mismanagement of party/campaign funds within five days.

Niger Workers Reject Governor’s Palliative Plans

The Niger State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress has directed workers in the state to boycott the Palliative Distribution Committee set up by Governor Mohammed Bago.

The council, which kicked against the governor’s plans for palliative distribution, said the pathetic situation in which the working class and pensioners find themselves in Nigeria and Niger State in particular leaves a lot to be desired.

The state chairman of the NLC, Idrees Lafene, and his counterpart in the Trade Union Congress, Ibrahim Gana, addressed a press conference on Monday in which they lamented that the state governor had skimmed out the working class and pensioners in the palliatives.

NLC Bars Entrance To Edo Court As Tribunal Adjourns Judgement

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State has barred entrance into the state high court premises in compliance with a two-day warning strike.

The election petitions tribunals for the National Assembly and state House of Assembly had scheduled judgements in two petitions for today but they have been adjourned till Thursday.

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, announced the warning strike last Friday in protest against the Federal Government’s failure to address the challenges caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.

Google Appoints Alex Okosi As MD In Africa

Google has announced that Alex Okosi, currently Managing Director for YouTube in EMEA Emerging Markets, will take on the role of Managing Director for Google in Africa.

In his new role, Okosi will be responsible for Google’s operations in Africa including programs to help businesses and economies on the continent to grow, as well as expanding access and providing tools to help the next billion users get more from the web. “Alex is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the media and technology industries. He has a deep understanding of African countries and a passion for using technology to empower people and businesses,” said Meir Brand, Vice President, EMEA Emerging Markets at Google.
