We're Not Happy That Only 5 Ministerial Positions Were Given To The South-East' -Igbo Leader, Okah

According to the Daily Post paper, Benjamin Okah, the chairman of the Ebonyi State Council of Elders and a prominent Igbo leader, expressed the discontent of the Igbos with the allocation of only five ministerial positions to the South-East geopolitical zone of the country. Okah, who previously served as the Commissioner for Public Utilities in Ebonyi State, shared his views during an interview with journalists in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

He referenced the recent swearing-in of new Ministers by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following their screening and confirmation by the upper chamber of the national assembly a few weeks ago. During the press briefing, Okah stated that it was supposed to be the turn of the Ebonyi Central senatorial zone to produce a minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. However, that position was ceded to former governor David Umahi.

He explained that this decision was based on the belief that Umahi would deliver quality infrastructure for the Southeast region, especially in terms of road development. Okah asserted that Igbos have historically performed well in various ministries they’ve been assigned to.

Furthermore, Okah expressed his concern over the allocation of only five ministerial positions to the Southeast and hoped that President Tinubu would consider the region for other significant appointments in the future.
