PEPT: If the Judges had nullified the election & ordered a rerun it would have made sense-Abdullahi

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, has expressed his belief that it would have been logical for the tribunal judges to invalidate the 2023 presidential election and call for a new one.

Keep in mind that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal recently upheld President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory and dismissed the petitions from the opposing parties and their candidates. Abdullahi, speaking on Arise TV this morning, expressed his astonishment on behalf of the PDP, as they were surprised that the judges did not identify any problems with the presidential election.

In his own words as seen on Arise TV this morning…

“There were a lot of evidence that were provided by the parties to nullify the election. If the judges had nullified the election and ordered for a rerun, it would’ve made a lot of sense. But for the respected judges to say that from the beginning to the end, there’s nothing wrong with the election, it’s a shock to us. We are yet to recover from the shock.”

He also emphasized that both parties presented strong evidence to question the legitimacy of the election. Abdullahi thought that cancelling the election and conducting a new one would have been a better solution to address the concerns raised during the legal process. His remarks indicate that the PDP is not satisfied with the tribunal’s decision and they believe that the election had serious problems that needed to be thoroughly investigated or repeated. The PDP had expected a different result in their quest for fairness in the electoral process.
