Adamu Warns Party Leaders – The Pledge”/>

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of Nigeria’ s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed the party’ s readiness to receive the G- 5 group led by former Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike. In an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday, Adamu extended a warm welcome to the G- 5 members, stating that they would be embraced whenever they decided to join the APC.

Addressing rumors of differences between himself and President Bola Tinubu, Adamu dismissed them as unfounded. He emphasized that prior to Tinubu’ s emergence, he had the right to support any candidate of his choosing. Adamu also highlighted his role in leading the party to successful presidential primaries and Tinubu’ s eventual victory, stating that he deserved commendation for his efforts.

As the G5 governors lose relevance

Regarding the recently elected principal officers of the national assembly, Adamu clarified that his position had been misrepresented. He explained that the APC’ s concern lay in the manner in which the lawmakers handled the communication, rather than the actual appointments themselves. Adamu pointed out that those who had issues with him had always been given the opportunity to express their views at national meetings, including Saliu Lukman, who had accused him of running a one- man show.

Adamu expressed his disapproval of Lukman’ s decision to take the party to court, labeling it a grave offense. However, Lukman later withdrew his case from the court and offered an apology. Adamu emphasized that the media should not dwell on this incident as it was not indicative of the party’ s overall dynamics.

Responding to allegations of his earlier support for Senator Ahmed Lawan, Adamu clarified that this occurred before the convention. He highlighted the subsequent developments that culminated in the convention unanimously endorsing Tinubu. Adamu underlined his support for Tinubu, recounting how he took the entire working committee to Tinubu’ s house after the convention to assure him of their backing. He expressed disappointment at the vilification he faced despite the party’ s electoral success.

Adamu emphasized that he had the right to hold an opinion before the primaries but stressed that once Tinubu emerged as the candidate, every member had to rally around him. He stated that his relationship with Tinubu had been positive since Tinubu’ s election, noting that the president always gave him his full attention during their meetings.

Addressing reports of a disagreement with the president, Adamu characterized them as media creations and urged the media to be fair in their coverage. He affirmed his willingness to express differing opinions, citing freedom of speech in the country.

In conclusion, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the APC, expressed the party’ s openness to receiving the G- 5 led by Nyesom Wike into its ranks. He clarified his position on various matters, including his support for Tinubu and the misrepresentation of his stance on the national assembly appointments. Adamu highlighted his commitment to the party’ s success and stressed his good working relationship with President Tinubu.
