Up till now Washington refused to declare what happened in Niger as a coup- Daniel Bwala

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was urged to take a cue from the United States of America regarding the coup that took place in the Niger Republic last week in a tweet by Mr. Daniel Bwala, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and one of the party’s official spokespeople for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate.

He stated that the United States of America has so far refrained from labelling the coup that took place in the Niger Republic last week as a coup because doing so would result in an end to all technical support, military aid, and diplomatic ties that the USA has been providing to the country.

He continued by saying that Washington held off on labelling the event a coup in order to consider alternative diplomatic options locally.

Daniel Bwala said, “Washington reportedly declined to label it a coup so they may investigate all diplomatic possibilities. This should serve as a lesson to the ECOWAS.
