The presidency has made it clear that President Bola Tinubu is not harboring concerns in the lead- up to the judgment scheduled for Wednesday by the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Consequently, he is not engaging in any form of intimidation against the members of the judiciary.

Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, appearing on Channels Television on Monday, affirmed that President Tinubu’ s confidence stems from his belief that he rightfully won the election. He sees no reason to exert pressure or threaten judicial officers, as he trusts in the independence and integrity of the Nigerian judicial system.

According to Ngelale, President Tinubu is confident that the distinguished men and women on the panel will base their decisions solely on the merits of the case before them.

Furthermore, Ngelale emphasized President Tinubu’ s commitment to upholding the respect for institutions, irrespective of the judgment’ s outcome. The President’ s dedication extends not only to him but to all stakeholders in the political process.

It is noteworthy that the Tribunal’ s judgment will coincide with President Tinubu’ s official trip to New Delhi, India, for the G- 20 Leaders’ Summit, underscoring the timing’ s significance.

Earlier on Monday, Umar Bangari, the Registrar of the Court of Appeal, announced that the Tribunal would deliver its judgments on the cases challenging President Tinubu’ s victory in the February 25, 2023, election.

These challenges have been mounted by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Atiku, a former Vice President, secured the second position in the closely contested poll, while Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, claimed the third spot.

The presidential election tribunal has set September 6 as the date for delivering the judgment.
