Tribunal: Ex APC Chieftain, Naja’atu Reveals President Tinubu’s Alleged Plan Over Niger Coup

Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammed, a former director of the Civil Society of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has made an accusation against President Bola Tinubu over his plan to invade Niger Republic.

According to Daily Trust reports, Naja’atu, said the quest to declare war on Niger Republic by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) led by President Tinubu is a ploy to distract Nigerians from the proceedings of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

Naja’atu, in a statement on Thursday, August 10. said if the ECOWAS succeeds with the request and plan to declare on Niger Republic, President Tinubu can declare a state of emergency to remain in power indefinitely.

The former APC Chieftain said the state of emergency would allow Tinubu to put aside the tribunal process challenging his victory at the 2023 presidential election.

She added that ECOWAS leaders should desist from violence and consider the devastating consequences of war on human lives in the Niger Republic.

Her words: “If Nigeria is at war, Tinubu can declare a state of emergency or martial law that will allow him to remain in power indefinitely, putting aside any tribunal or judicial process challenging his eligibility to even contest the election.

“With the backing of France and other colonial powers, he will deploy security forces to quail any form of protest to his undemocratic and unconstitutional machinations.

“Tinubu is aware that he is not eligible to contest. The Tribunal judges know this, APC as a political party also knows this. So, why is Tinubu so eager to go to war on behalf of France and with the backing of France in the name of democracy?”

This is coming after ECOWAS ordered immediate standby military force against Niger Coup leaders.

The President of ECOWAS, Omar Alieu Touray, made this known while reading the resolution of ECOWAS on the Niger coup at the ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

According to Touray, the regional bloc maintained a stand against the military government in Niger and directed immediate enforcement and monitoring of sanctions on the military junta.

“Direct the Committe of the Chief of Defence Staff to activate the ECOWAS stand-by force with all its elements immediately.

“Order the deployment of the ECOWAS stand-by force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.

“Underscore its continued commitment to the restoration of constitutional order through peaceful means” the resolution partly reads
