Tribunal dismisses LP’s petition against APC, Senator Eshinlokun–Sanni

The National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Ikeja, Lagos, has dismissed the petition filed by Abiodun Dabiri, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate, against the election of Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly-elected senator for Lagos State Central Senatorial District.

The panel which was Led by Justice Ashua Ewah, the three-man panel upheld Eshinlokun’s election and deemed the petition incompetent as it pertained to pre-election matters. Justices Abdulahi Ozegya and M.A. Sambo were the other members of the tribunal.

The tribunal concurred with the stance of lead counsel Wahab Shittu (SAN) representing Eshinlokun, as well as the counsels representing INEC and the APC, in requesting the petition’s dismissal on grounds of lacking merit. Consequently, the tribunal confirmed the validity of the election that resulted in Eshinlokun’s return as the senator for the district.
