Tinubu Appoints Keyamo As Minister

President Bola Tinubu has edited his ministerial nomination list submitted to the National Assembly as he replaces Maryam Shetty with former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo. 

The President also added Dr Maigari Mahmud to the list.

The change in the nomination list was revealed on Friday when the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read out a letter by the President at the Senate plenary session.

Edo Deputy Gov Obaseki, Seeks Court Protection

Philip Shaibu, deputy governor of Edo, has approached a federal high court in Abuja with a suit to prevent an alleged impeachment plot against him.

Shaibu, in an ex parte motion filed on July 28, asked the court to restrain the defendants from preventing him from carrying out his role as deputy governor.

According to the court documents seen by TheCable, the inspector-general of police, state security service, governor of Edo, speaker of Edo state house of assembly, and chief judge of Edo state, were listed as 1st to 5th defendants respectively.

Negotiation Fails, Niger Junta To Recall Ambassador From Nigeria

The General Abdourahmane Tchiani-led military junta in the Republic of Niger is planning on recalling the Nigerien Ambassador to Nigeria after failing to come to terms with the delegation of the Economic Community of West African States, on the return of democracy in Niger.

The junta is also planning to recall Nigerien Ambassadors to Togo, the United States, and France, as it pushes to evict French and US troops in the country,while declaring an end to all Memorandum of Understanding between France and the Republic of Niger.

Defence sources privy to the ongoing meeting in Niamey, the Niger capital confirmed the development to our correspondent Friday morning.

Nigerian Govt Closes All Border Posts With Niger Republic Over Military Coup

The Nigerian government through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially announced the closure of all land borders linking Nigeria with the Niger Republic due to the recent coup d’etat in the West African country.

The NCS’ acting Controller General, Bashir Adewale, made this known on Friday during a visit to the Jibia border in Katsina.

Adewale said the decision for the total blockage of the borders was to comply with the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS)’s directive to suspend the movement of cargo until further notice.
