Reactions As Shehu Sani Faults FG's Move To Convert To Gas-Powered Vehicles In Nigeria

Sen. Shehu Sani, a human rights activist and former lawmaker in Kaduna, made a post on social media in which he criticized the Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government of Nigeria for its decision to convert automobiles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cheaper alternative to gasoline. The post sparked a chain of comments that began shortly after the post was made.

Sani, who served as a representative for the Kaduna Central Constituency in the 8th National Assembly, said in a tweet that was published on his verified Twitter profile on Tuesday, August 22, that while other countries are transitioning to electric and solar-powered automobiles, Nigeria is transitioning to gas-powered vehicles.

Further, the former congressman pondered what alternative options might be available to Nigeria in the event that prices experienced a considerable increase.

He wrote that “the world is converting to electric vehicles and Solar power, and we are converting to gas; when the prices of gas rise, we will then convert to something else.”
