El-Rufai Said He Picked A Muslim As Deputy Because Most Christians Don't Vote APC In Kaduna– Kennedy Musa

Kennedy Musa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader from the southern part of Kaduna, has recalled a statement made by the former governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai. El-Rufai had previously said that he chose a Muslim, Hadiza Balarebe, as his deputy governor because most Christians in the state did not vote for the APC.

Musa referred to El-Rufai’s controversial statement while discussing the alleged marginalization of the people of Southern Kaduna during an interview with Channels TV. He highlighted that under the administration of Governor Uba Sani, there have been 87 political appointments made so far, with only 18 coming from southern Kaduna. Musa expressed his hope that Governor Uba Sani would not follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, former Governor El-Rufai.

Hear him, “I’ve just provided you with a statistic, and you can verify it. Out of 87 appointments, only 18 are from southern Kaduna. I hope the governor doesn’t replicate the approach of former Governor El-Rufai. Towards the end of his tenure, there was a leaked social media clip where he was heard telling Islamic scholars that he selected a Muslim lady from Southern Kaduna as his deputy because the Christian-dominated areas were not voting for the APC. This goes against both the principles of the APC’s constitution and the national constitution.”
