My Journey To Presidency Will Be Painful– Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has told his supporters not to despair in the quest for a new Nigeria as a result of last Wednesday’s judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court.
SaharaReporters reported that the PEPC dismissed Obi’s petition and that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) petition challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the validly elected President of the federal republic of Nigeria from the election.
Both Obi and Abubakar had rejected the over 700-page judgement of the Tribunal and directed their respective counsels to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court.
How, in a message addressed to all Obidients and my supporters on Saturday morning titled: “DESPAIR IS NOT AN OPTION,” the former Anambra State Governor, assured them that the dream for a new Nigeria “has only been deferred for now but remains alive for all times”.

600 die in Morocco earthquake

A powerful earthquake that shook Morocco killed more than 600 people, officials said Saturday, sending terrified residents fleeing their homes in the middle of the night.
The 6.8-magnitude quake struck a mountainous area 72 kilometres (45 miles) southwest of tourist hotspot Marrakesh at 11:11 pm (2211 GMT) Friday, the US Geological Survey reported.
Strong tremors were also felt in the coastal cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Essaouira.
Moroccan media reported it was the most powerful quake to ever hit the country.
“We felt a very violent tremor, and I realised it was an earthquake,” Abdelhak El Amrani, 33, told AFP by telephone from Marrakesh.
“I could see buildings moving,” said Amrani who went outside, joining many other people, “all in shock and panic. The children were crying and the parents were distraught.”
“The power went out for 10 minutes, and so did the (telephone) network, but then it came back on,” he added. “Everyone decided to stay outside.
Gunmen behead DPO in Rivers

Armed men suspected to be cultists terrorizing parts of Rivers State have killed a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, identified as Bako Amgbanshin.
DAILY POST gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday night in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State.
The assailants were said to have ambushed the DPO and his men while on an operation to raid some criminal hideouts in the Ahoada East axis.
The operatives had engaged the miscreants in a gun duel before the DPO was captured, killed and his body dismembered.
A viral video which surfaced on the Internet on Friday night revealed how Angbanshin’s head, hand and private part were cut off with several deep machete cuts.
In the video sighted by our correspondent, the gunmen chanted victory songs while his severed remains littered the floor.
When contacted by DAILY POST, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident but failed to give details.
INEC Has Broken The Trust Of Nigerians _Laolu

Laolu Akande, who is the media aide to the former Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failing to electronically transmit the results of the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections has broken the trust of Nigerians.
Akande stated this while answering questions on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Friday.
According to Akande, INEC failed to fulfill its promise to upload polling unit results on their Result Viewing Portal.
It is important to establish something we cannot basically run away from. INEC came out of this election as a damaged goods.

Akeredolu resumes office, writes Assembly

Hours after his return from medical vacation, the Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), on Friday said he had resumed work.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde, Akeredolu affirmed that he was back in the country and that he would begin work immediately.
Akeredolu, who was on medical vacation in Germany for about three months, returned to the country on Thursday and headed to his Ibadan residence. He is however expected back to the state soon.
He is also said to have sent a letter to the state House of Assembly to notify the lawmakers of his return, having written to them before leaving for Germany in June when he transferred power to his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
