Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says he is working with President Bola Tinubu to achieve the promise of “renewed hope” for Nigerians.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, Wike said he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and is not working for the party.
Wike’s appointment as minister in a cabinet formed by Tinubu, the APC candidate who won the February presidential election, has elicited mixed reactions.
Asked during the interview about his PDP membership status, the former Rivers governor said he remains a member of the party“
I feel at home working for the government of Tinubu. He has given me that courage. He is a man who means well for the country,” he said.
“He is looking for people who will support him to achieve the renewed hope he promised Nigerians.
“I’m not here to work for a party. I’m here to support the president who has confidence in me — to help him deliver the renewed hope and I owe nobody any apology.”

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says Rabiu Kwankwaso was given permission by the party to meet with President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Wednesday, Galadima was reacting to the suspension of the party’s presidential candidate in the last election by a faction of NNPP.
On Tuesday, the NNPP’s board of trustees (BoT) led by Boniface Aniebonam, founder of the party, suspended Kwankwaso over allegations of anti-party activities.
But a faction of the party loyal to the former governor of Kano state reversed the suspension.
The faction also suspended Agbo Major, the national publicity secretary of the party.
Kwankwaso has been photographed alongside President Bola Tinubu on a few occasions in recent times.
Galadima said Kwankwaso’s suspension was not the decision of the NNPP because Major who spearheaded it, is not a member of the national caucus of the party.
“Let us establish one fact. Is Major Abgo speaking for himself or speaking for the BoT? Let us establish his own credentials first,” Galadima said.
“I told you who the national exco of the party met in Abuja today and I rolled out who have been here.
“Did Agbo tell you who, himself and who did meet in Lagos? Are they members of the party? And I also said that there is no locus. Do two people only make up a party? Which other member of the BoT was there in that thier meeting?
“State chairmen that we expelled were the ones at that meeting. Preemptive. So, there is no even locus and he is not supposed to know because he is too small to know whether Kwankwaso took permission from the party or not to meet with other interest groups because he is not a member of the national caucus of the party. So, how can he know?

Biden Invitation To Tinubu Inappropriate, Unacceptable – Timi Frank

Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, described the purported request of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to meet President Bola Tinubu as inappropriate, unacceptable and condemnable.
Frank said the meeting billed to take place at the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September is suspicious in view of the fact that Tinubu currently lacks legitimacy as the result of the 2023 presidential election is being contested in court.
He noted that Biden’s request conveyed by a US Presidential envoy and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador Molly Phee, defeats the stance of the American Government on democracy and sanctity of the ballot.President Joe Biden is asking to meet with you on the sidelines of the United Nation General Assembly and you are the only African leader he has requested to meet. It is a mark of his high regard for your leadership,” Ambassador Phee said during his meeting with Tinubu recently.
Meanwhile, Frank said: “This move by Biden is certainly an anti-American stance on rule of law and a bad example in collaborations in view of the pendency of suits challenging the declaration of Tinubu as President and multiple investigations ongoing concerning his integrity, true identity and academic records both in Nigeria and USA.
“It’s an insult to say that Tinubu is the only African president that Biden has chosen to meet on the sidelines of UNGA when they know his legitimacy deficit and the fraudulent election that brought him as president.
NNPP speaks on Kwankwaso’s suspension

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has refuted the purported suspension of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the party.
Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP national auditor, stated this at a news conference on Wednesday at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Mr Johnson, a former spokesperson for the Kwankwanso Presidential Campaign Council, said the suspension was null and void.
A faction of the party headed by a former Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Boniface Aniebonan, had on Tuesday suspended Mr Kwankwaso for six months over alleged anti-party activities after a parallel National Executive Committee (NEC) in Lagos.
It also appointed a former National Publicity Secretary of the party, Major Agbo, as the acting National Chairman.
But, Mr Johnson said that Messrs Aniebonam and Agbo were on 24 August suspended for three months for engaging in unwholesome acts before they were later expelled from the party.
He added that the party NEC, at its meeting on Tuesday in Abuja monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), took certain decisions, including the election of new national officials, change of the party logo and expulsion of Merssr Aniebonam and Agbo.
“Is it not funny that all those people either suspended or expelled would gather somewhere and claim to have suspended Kwankwaso and also dissolve the NWC?
