FCT minister Wike dares PDP to suspend him over anti-party activities

Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has pressed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel or punish him for alleged anti-party behavior.

According to The Punch, Mr. Wike was a member of the PDP G5 governors that opposed Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidency on February 25. They objected to the party’s decision to zone its presidential nomination to the north rather than the south.

The mutiny against Mr. Atiku’s presidential campaign was led by the ex-governor. He chose to back Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won the election instead, a decision that didn’t sit well with the PDP’s leadership.

Mr. Wike, a current card-carrying PDP chieftain, was ostensibly appointed as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Mr. Tinubu’s cabinet as payment for his support.

“We are just waiting for the presidential panel to finish,” he continued, “so that you will know who are those who are working well for the party.”
