Tribunal: Tinubu Had No Phone Call With CJN Ariwoola, Says APC

President Bola Tinubu did not have a telephone conversation with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola regarding the possible outcome of his case at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

This is according to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) amid some reports suggesting that a phone conversation ensued over the duo.

A Twitter user had alleged that the CJN had through a telephone conversation advised President Tinubu and the APC to get ready for a rerun of the 2023 presidential election.

But reacting in a statement on Tuesday, the APC spokesman, Felix Morka said the Twitter user fabricated a falsehood on a matter of serious national importance that is actively under review by the tribunal.

Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday said his counterpart from the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi inspires him.

Atiku said Obi’s dedication to service and growth over the years inspires him.

The former Vice President made the remark while felicitating Obi on his 62nd birthday.Tweeting, Atiku described Obi as a distinguished and respected leader and former governor.

According to Atiku: “Happy 62nd birthday to @PeterObi, a respected leader and distinguished former governor of Anambra state and presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Your dedication to service and growth continues to inspire.

“As you add another year today, I, on behalf of my family and team wish you many more years in good health and vitality. -AA”

Obi, who was a member of PDP, had defected to LP prior to the 2023 presidential election.

Prior to his defection, Obi was tipped to emerge as Atiku’s running mate in the last presidential election

Nasarawa: Gov Abdullahi expresses concern over terrorists influx.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has expressed concern over the influx of terrorists fleeing crisis areas of the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The governor, at an expanded security meeting held in the state capital to address some emerging security threats, also raised the alarm over the proliferation of illegal production of small arms and ammunition in the state.

The meeting, attended by security chiefs, selected local government chairmen and traditional rulers, revealed intelligence reports that located the bandits around Mangar and Ambaka areas in Wamba Local Government Area and Lafia East Development Area.

The agenda of the security meeting included reviewing the movement of Fulani herders in areas bordering the neighbouring Benue State.

Troops arrest two, impound 397 wraps of marijuana

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a Beninese, Matthew Edegbe, and a Nigerian, Joshua Dansu, while trying to smuggle into the country a truckload of substance suspected to be Marijuana.

The troops arrested the suspects during a stop-and-search operation along Ajilete road in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday.

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the suspects conveyed the drug in a truck without a number plate.

He added that the investigation by troops revealed that the marijuana was transported from Ghana.
