Tinubu, Atiku legal battle shifts to US

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois has fixed the hearing for the case between the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu tomorrow.
The former vice president had filed a suit at the US court, demanding that Chicago State University (CSU) release all of Tinubu’s academic records over irregularities in the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).This move was prompted by Atiku’s belief that these documents would help clarify what he said are inconsistencies in Tinubu’s background.
In response to Atiku’s application, CSU agreed to release Tinubu’s credentials once the court issues the order. In a statement dated August 23, issued by the university and signed by the university’s counsel, the university noted that once they get an order from the court, the academic records of Tinubu will be released. The university also pleaded with the court to be specific with the demands it seeks.

Senator representing Ondo South, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has described the return of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in sound health of mind and body as an evidence that the Lord is afar from the wicked, but hears the prayer of the righteous.
He gave the remarks at his residence in Abuja, yesterday, in reaction to the return of the governor last Thursday, after a successful medical trip to Germany, adding that Governor Akeredolu is a signature of God.
The billionaire businessman turned politician expressed the flowing of joy in his heart on the returning of his State Governor in sound heart saying; “This is the season that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it because healing of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is from above, coming down from the father of the heavenly healer who does not change like some people who are shifting shadow.”

Akpabio Appoints ex-Reps spokesman, Eyiboh, Media Adviser

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has named a former spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Eseme Eyiboh, as his special adviser on Media and Public Affairs.
He made the announcement at a media parley with Senate Press Corps in Abuja, at the weekend.
He described Eyiboh as an astute politician, experienced media manager, public affairs expert and communications guru.
A two-term member of the House of Representatives, Eyiboh was in the Green Chamber from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2011. He was spokesman and chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs between 2007 and 2011 under the speakership of Dimeji Bankole.
In 2011, he was appointed chairman of the House Committee on Civil Society Organisations and Donor Agencies by Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Death of DPO : Police arrest 6 in Rivers

Rivers State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bako Angbashim, in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.
SP. Angbashim, was killed and his body dismembered by suspected members of Iceland cult gang last Friday evening, after the deceased and his team were ambushed in Odumude community in the area.
Daily Sun gathered that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emeka Nwonyi, along with his management team and tactical units, conducted an operation on Saturday, in Odumude Community, Ahaoda East LGA, of the state, with the objective to recover the DPO’s body, and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the community.
Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the operation, said during the operation, six suspects were apprehended within the community.
She said among the items seized from the suspects,were a locally crafted pistol and various charms.
